Knotting a connection

As a small child in the 70’s, if there is one thing that I remember throughout out house, its macrame.

My mother used it as a craft that calmed her and and gave her the much needed “Me time” while raising 4 children. I bet two boys and two girls were a lot of work!! She would make wall hangings, ornaments, plant hangers, and bags out of different cords that she could afford at the craft store. Macrame is a very old craft, traceable back hundreds of years and had a major resurgence in the 1970s.

It’s great to reach back and recreate some her crafts, it brings us closer somehow after all these years! Of course, it always seems like she was much more skilled with her crafting, her knots are so even and perfect. It gives me something to strive for!
